A computer keyboard is not a typewriter; pounding the keys as if your goal is to punch them through the desk is not required.
Now if only all loud-typers could have this realisation, all the quiet-typers would rejoice…

While it is true that a keyboard is not a typewriter some bad keyboards have such awful keys on them that at times it seems as though a huge actuation is required to press the key simply because there is no response from the key or perhaps foreign material has been captured by the keyboard and is causing a deficiency requiring this force for certain keys.
Of course there is the alternative loud typing option where one uses a keyboard which has mechanical keyswitches designed to be actuated with a reasonably light force, have clear and incredible tactile feedback and make a lovely little ‘click’ every time they are pressed. Such typists shall never be an aid in your quest for the world of silent typing.
