changing stations

Posted in random on January 12, 2008 @ 11:45am

You get into your car, and the radio is on. You’re driving somewhere fairly automatically – to the local shops, say – and you don’t even notice the music playing. It’s a nice day for a drive, after all.

Sometime along the way, though, you realise that the song you’re listening to is fairly mediocre, and not quite to your tastes. You also realise that there are at least five other stations which play music, and, not being in the mood for stuffy AM talkback, you hit a button to change presets.

Happily, it’s a song you love, a real favourite! But alas, only the last couple of bars play. All too soon it’s over, and, saddened that the moment has passed, you realise that you never knew what you were missing, until you decided to change stations.

If only you had changed stations sooner…

Is this suppose to be a metaphor for something else, or are you really just talking about the radio? 😛

You know, it doesn’t really matter – I suppose I’ll just make up my own little scenario in my head.

It could be a metaphor, so metaphorically speaking, when you switch back to your old station your favourite [could] be there and it wouldn’t be too late after all. Metaphorically speaking, that is.

Much of my random fixating is metaphorical…

Indeed, when you change back to the original station another favourite might be there. Still, whatever moment you missed is gone forever.

This is in response to your last 2 posts. Moving along…

When Lot’s wife looked back she turned into a pillar of salt. Have faith in what you know to be true and trust your instincts – stop debating it with God and instead, walk in what he’s already revealed.

Maybe if you keep listening to the first station, a new favourite song will come on. Yet to be revealed…

Have I completely missed the point? Perhaps, but maybe there is something for you. :)
