broken dreams
so much of a breaking
heart poured into 12 minutes
tears falling with fingers onto ivory keys
sorrow wrenched from the soul and woven
into mournful notes
such tragic harmony; bleak and
ill-kept hopes dashed by
shrouded reality and obscured truth

I rarely hear you play your own music. I must say this is the most beautiful piece of music I have ever heard you play. Possibly the most beautiful piece of music I’ve ever heard.
It was Plato who said “Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, a charm to sadness, and life to everything” and this is no exception! I closed my eyes as I listened and I let it take me away. I soared when it soared and fell when it fell. It reduced me to tears several times, sometimes from a sense of uplifting and other times a sense of sorrow.
I admire you for your talent and your vulnerability. This was such a blessing. Thank you for sharing it!

Recently, I played some of my own music for a friend. She would comment on what she felt when listening to it before I would tell her what I felt when writing it. She commented on how amazing it is to feel so much of what the composer felt by listening to the final product.
The same applies here – I feel I glimpsed a part of your soul and it was beautiful. Thank you.
